jQuery callbacks.lock() Method

The jQuery callbacks.lock() method locks a callback list in its current state.

Note: $.Callbacks() is a multi-purpose callbacks list object that provides a powerful way to manage callback lists.

Example

HTML Editor
<!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en-US"> <head> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.5.1/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <h1>jQuery callbacks.lock() Method</h1> <p>Click on the button and check your console.</p> <button>Click Me</button> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("button").click(function(){ var callbacks = $.Callbacks(); callbacks.add(foo); callbacks.fire("hello"); callbacks.lock(); callbacks.fire("World"); function foo(value){ console.log("foo : " +value); } }); }); </script> </body> </html>

Syntax

callbacks.lock();

Deep Understanding

When callbacks are locked, no new parameter/argument can fire the callbacks list.

Example

HTML Editor
<!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en-US"> <head> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.5.1/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <h1>jQuery callbacks.lock() Method</h1> <p>Click on the button and check your console.</p> <button>Click Me</button> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("button").click(function(){ var callbacks = $.Callbacks("memory"); callbacks.add(foo); callbacks.fire("hello"); callbacks.lock(); callbacks.fire("World"); // add callbacks again callbacks.add(foo); callbacks.add(bar); callbacks.fire("World"); function foo(value){ console.log("foo : " +value); } function bar(value){ console.log("bar : " +value); } }); }); </script> </body> </html>
