This ad used too many resources for your device.

Chrome is developed to be fast and responsive without harmful or annoying experiences.

In recent days, some ads are consuming a disproportionate share of device resources, such as battery and network data, without the user knowing about it. So, chrome developers decided to take action against those ads.

From 14-May-2020, Chrome is experimenting with setting limits on the resources an ad may use.

If an ad uses the resources more than the specified limit, then chrome will automatically unload the ad from the webpage. The mechanism used for unloading ads is the Heavy Ad Intervention.

An Ad will be unloaded from chrome if any of the following condition satisfied:

  • Uses the main thread for more than 60 seconds in total
  • Uses the main thread for more than 15 seconds in any 30 second window
  • Uses more than 4 megabytes of network bandwidth

Note: The 'Heavy Ad Intervention' applies to Google AdSense also.
