You are Here:
Find Maximum Value of an Array
In the following example, we will find the maximum value of an array (arr).
Example
Java Compiler
public class myClass
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
int i, max;
int[] arr = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5};
max = arr[0];
for(i=1; i<5; i++)
{
if(max < arr[i])
max = arr[i];
}
System.out.format("Maximum value of Array: %d\n", max);
}
}
Output
Maximum value of Array: 5
In the following example, we will get any five integer values from the user and return the maximum value among those.
Example
Java Compiler
import java.util.Scanner;
public class myClass
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
int i, max;
int[] arr = new int[5];
Scanner reader = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println("Enter any 5 (int) numbers:\n");
for(i=0; i<5; i++)
arr[i] = reader.nextInt();
reader.close();
max = arr[0];
for(i=1; i<5; i++)
{
if(max < arr[i])
max = arr[i];
}
System.out.format("Maximum value of Array: %d\n", max);
}
}
Output
Enter any 5 (int) numbers:
1 2 3 4 5
Maximum value of Array: 5
