The setTime()
method sets the Date object to the time represented by a number of milliseconds since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 UTC.

Syntax
Date.setTime(time)
Parameter Value
Value | Type | Explanation |
---|---|---|
time | Required | An integer representing the number of milliseconds since 1 January 1970, 00:00:00 UTC. Note: Negative values are also accepted. |
Return Value
Value | Explanation |
---|---|
Number | Returns the number of milliseconds between 1 January 1970 00:00:00 UTC and the updated date. |
setTime() with Negative Value
In the following example, we subtract 800830825000 milliseconds from January 1, 1970, and display the new date and time.
